The Ludlow Rotary Club is proud to announce that this year’s Ludlow Rotary Grant, in partnership with a Rotary District 7890 Grant, has been awarded to the Ludlow Police Department for the purchase of electric bicycles (e-bikes). This collaborative funding effort reflects Rotary’s commitment to supporting impactful, community-centered projects.
The District Grant—part of Rotary International’s initiative to empower clubs to address local needs—matched funds raised by the Ludlow Rotary Club, doubling the impact of this year’s grant. Together, these resources enabled the department to acquire e-bikes that will enhance patrol capabilities, especially in areas less accessible by car, such as parks, trails, and during large public events.
“This grant represents exactly what Rotary stands for—supporting innovation that strengthens community well-being,” said Ludlow Rotary Club President Tony Sanches. “We’re proud to partner with the Ludlow Police Department to promote both public safety and environmental responsibility.”
“The e-bikes not only improve mobility and response time but also foster a more approachable and visible police presence,” said Ludlow Rotarian and Police Officer Isaac Santana. “Officers on e-bikes can engage more directly with residents, reinforcing community trust and accessibility.”
